VIDEO OF THE WEEK

Hailing from Hollywood, California, the immensely popular Tempting Fate have been making waves in the global metal scene with their own brand of “dub-metal” metalcore. “Illusions”, a high-octane, self-produced and self-released 8 track EP is a thrilling listening experience… oh and by-the-way, it’s entirely free to download!

The production is slick – a polished blend of samples and synth injections on top of the very tightly performed guitar, bass and drum tracks. The vocals, typical of metalcore, are predominantly screams with a punchy delivery. There are the occasional moments of melody in the very catchy “Questions” as well as “Get Up”, which are a nice break to the overall viscous sonic assault. There are also some Death/Doom Metal growly moments, most notably in the second track “Filthy”. This EP also contains the odd blazing guitar solo and some very nice guitar harmonies. The rhythm is infectious, rousing a primal urge in me to get up and trash the place.

But I won’t over analyze it. Tempting Fate’s EP makes no “Illusions” as to what it is – a rage induced sonic fist intent on punching the listener in the face while simultaneously kicking them in the ass. From the moment it starts it doesn’t let up. Not for a second. I can only imagine what kind of energy these guys bring to stage, and I’d certainly leap at the opportunity to catch them live should they ever make their way up to the Great White North.

Check out “Illusions” by Tempting Fate. It’s a lot of fun and you have nothing to lose!
