Show Notes:
Episode Ninety-Four: Jason Deaville returns to host and is joined by Jim and Ken to discuss Onslaught's The Force from 1986. This UK band recorded an album that pushes thrash metal into darker territories; relying heavily upon horror themed lyrics to get their point across. Released in the month of May on Under One Flag records, the album utilizes a sound that is more in tune to the type of music Slayer was writing back in the day.
The Force is murkier, with a lower production value, but there is no denying the improved musicianship from their previous effort Powers From Hell. The Force is considered a thrash metal classic from fans and critics alike. It also featured new vocalist Sy Keeler (who would leave after this recording), but he would eventually return for 2007's Killing Peace.
Fun Facts: The album was reissued in 2002 on Blackend Records and was also fully remastered in 2013 for AFM Records. The album cover was revamped with liner notes provided by guitarist Nige Rockett.
