Show Notes:
Episode Eighty One: It's been a while since the show has covered a death metal album, so the boys decided to talk about the sophomore release from the UK's Bolt Thrower. Released in 1989 on Earache Records, Realm Of Chaos brings a unique blend of grinding blast beats and chaotic riffing while paying homage to the Warhammer 40k universe.
Realm Of Chaos was released October 28, 1989 and was produced by Digby Pearson and engineered by Colin Richardson. The album is inspired by Games Workshop's Warhammer 40k gaming line; referring to the book Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness released that same year. Much of the lyrical content revolves around space marines hellbent on total destruction in a war torn future. Songs like World Eater and the title track Realm of Chaos tie directly into the gaming platform and have said to have grown in popularity over the years.
Fun Facts: The artwork was done by legendary British illustrator John Sibbick mostly known for dinosaur drawings, but also fantasy art. He has been associated with Games Workshop for many years and has created a large body of work over time.
