Show Notes:
Episode Eighty Two: This week we head back to the big four of German thrash metal to cover the 7th studio release from Destruction. In many eyes, this was a return form release and maybe even a magnus opus in the modern of thrash. Entitled The Antichrist, this 2001 release on Nuclear Blast records saw the band in top form delivering 11 tracks of molten madness.
The Antichrist was released September 15th 2001 harking back to the band's classic period with blistering lead work and pure aggression. Vocalist Marcel Schmier is in top form here with a rabid approach to his singing and along with guitar brilliance of Mike Sifringer, the songs are nasty representations of what the German scene brought to the genre. Many fans feel this is a true comeback record, citing it to be a modern classic.
Fun Facts: The artwork was created by Thomas Ewerhard who quite University studying biology in the mid 90's to pursue in graphic design and illustration. The image of the exploding nuclear infused skull returns in a nod to the cover of Infernal Overkill.
